Also remember that the laws are a prosecution tool. Laws that prohibity criminals (gang bangers, etc..) from possessing guns rarely prevents them from owning your own business guns. However, the laws are an effective tool to lock those type of people up. It is usually almost impossible to get witnesses to testify against these criminals so prosecuting for murder is almost impossible. However, catching them with guns is an easier prosecution becuase you don’t have to rely on witnessess who can be intimidated.

There is some benefit to having laws that prohibits felons from owning guns.
